Weeks before her sudden kidnapping, Nancy Guthrie shared some ominous words about her home in Tucson, Arizona.
The 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie β who is reportedly considering quitting her role at the Today Show β was reported missing from her home in Arizona since February 1. On February 13, an overnight operation unfolded about two miles fromΒ Nancy’s Arizona home, when members of the Pima County Sheriffβs Department executed a search warrant.
Local authorities were reportedly acting on a tip in connection with the investigation of her disappearance. This comes asΒ an ex-FBI agent revealed the hidden codeword that Savannah used in her message to the kidnappers.
Nancy’s most recent appearance on the Today Show took place in November 2025. Savannah, 54, revisited her hometown for aΒ segmentΒ on the NBC morning show.
Savannah was joined by her mother and her older sister, Annie, as they enjoyed lunch at Mexican Restaurant, El Charro.

At first, the host said, “I love being home,” before asking her mother why she eventually moved around and decided to stay in the Grand Canyon State.
The TV star said, “Mom, you guys came here in the ’70s. You had been moving all around. What made you want to stay in Tucson and plant your roots?”
Her mom described Tucson, “It’s so wonderful. The air. The quality of life. It’s laid back and gentle.
“I like to watch the havalinas and eat my plans,” she said before the mother/daughter duo burst into laughter.
Savannah added, “The best part about Tucson is coming home with you guys,” as she placed her hand on her mother’s shoulder.
Nancy cheered, “Yes!”
The three repeated “Love you,” while raising their glasses high.
The host narrated the segment, “From the love of family to the familiar beauty of the scenery, I will always be a daughter of the desert.
On February 7,Β Savannah and Annie were joined by their other siblingΒ β Camron β as they held hands in an Instagram video. The video was captioned, “Bring her home.”

Savannah addressed her mother’s potential kidnapper, “We received your message, and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”
On February 10, she posted another video and asked the public for help in finding her missing mother. She expressed gratitude for the prayers and support directed toward her, her siblings, and their mother.
